WORLD GREEN GROWTH SUMMIT

World Green Growth Summit 2020 is targeting 2000 key stakeholders to address emerging trends, policy issues, and opportunities in the energy sector.

The 2 day-long virtual summit is designed  to connect government officials, with fortune executives, entrepreneurs, green economy experts, thought leaders, alumni and stakeholders, for high-level discussions and networking.

Our Speakers

Mohamed G. Kafafy holds a PhD in Engineering Management, Doctor of Business Administration (DBA), MBA, Master of Science (MSc) and BSc in Mechanical Engineering with honor. As well as Certifications such as: Certified Quality Director, Certified International Arbitrator, Certified Supply Chain Expert and Certified Management Consultant (CMC). Also, He holds fellowships of the: American Academy of Project Management, International Association of Engineers, American Association of Higher Education, Institute of Business Development, and Institute of Management Consultants (FIMC) as well as recognized Member of Accreditation Council for Business School Programs (ACBSP). In December 2010 Dr. Mohamed Kafafy received the US President’s Award from the President Barack Obama and in 2015 Appreciation Award from WAFUNIF Official United Nations Organization. Distinguished Professor awards from San Juan De La Cruz University and Azteca University. Honorary Doctor of Science awards from Newport University and St-Clements University for Outstanding Achievements to Energy & Sustainable Development.

Dr. Kafafy has international reputation as an expert with over 25 years of experience; he offers both an academic and practical approach to energy & sustainable development, through his operational and managerial experience in different industries and as an educator and consultant of several governmental, non-governmental, academic, and corporations around the world.

Dr. Hussein Abaza is currently the Senior Advisor to the Egyptian Minister of Environment. Prior to holding this position he has worked for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) from 1982 up to 2009. During his tenure with UNEP he was responsible for formulating and overseeing the implementation of the UNEP Economics and Trade Programme, led the team which conceptualized and launched the UNEP Green Economy initiative in October 2008, and functioned as the Special Assistant to the Executive Director of UNEP. Positions while at UNEP also included Chief of the Economic and Trade Branch, Coordinator of the Committee of International Development Instituitons on the Envrionment (CIDIE), and Coordinator of the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN). Founded the Centre for Sustainable Development Solutions (CSDS) in 2011 with the main objectives of promoting green economy and sustainable development, with particular focus on Egypt and the Middle East. The Centre aims at achieving its objectives through technical support, research, training, community based activities, and public awareness campaigns. As an Advisor to the then Minister of Planning, Follow-up and Administrative Reform and Head of the Sustainable Development Team launched in 2018 a process for revising and updating the 2030 Sustainable Development Strategy for Egypt.

Prior to joining UNEP, functioned as Chief Executive Officer of the United Nations Physical and Urban Planning project in Saudi Arabia, Managing Director of the Center of Planning and Architecture in Cairo, Egypt, and Director of the Islamic Investment company, Central and Northern Region, Saudi Arabia. Apart from functioning as the Senior Advisor to the Egyptian Minister of Environment, he is currently a Fellow of the Egyptian Academy of Scientific Research and Technology and a member of the Environment Council of the Egyptian Ministry of Culture.

During the course of his professional career he provided technical assistance and supported country projects in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Projects aimed at strengthening national capacities to conduct integrated assessment as a tool to integrate environment and social considerations in macroeconomic and secotral policies, develop a package of policy measures, including economic instruments for implementing mutually supportive environmental, social, and economic policies. He also participated and delivered keynote statements and attended a series of national, regional and international workshops and events on sustainable development and "Green Economy". Meetings and workshops were convened in Abu Dhabi, Amman, Beirut, Florence, Hamburg, Islamabad, Marrakech, Rabat, Qatar, and Tunisia.

During his long and extensive professional life he worked as a consultant/advisor for a number of international organizations, including the World Bank, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the International Labour Organization (ILO), the United Nations Economic Commission for Western Asia (UNESCWA), the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), the European Union (EU), Plan Blue, the Union for the Mediterranean (UFM), the Arab Forum for Environment and Development (AFED), the Centre for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE), and the German Federal Enterprise for International Cooperation (GIZ), SWEEP-Net, SWITCH-Med programme, and the League of Arab States.

He prepared and contributed to a series of publications on environmental and integrated assessment, the interface between trade and environment, valuation of environmental and natural resources, the use of economic instruments for environmental management, and the Green Economy for the Arab Region, and manuals on sustainable development, integrated policy making, environmental assessment, green economy, environmental economics, and trade and environment.

Shahira WAHBI , a Sudanese Ambassador on deputation to the League of Arab States (LAS). She is the Chief of Natural Resources Sustainability & Partnership & DRR Focal Point at LAS in Cairo since 2000. She has cumulative experience in sustainable development, strategic alliances and partnerships building, and policy development in issues related to investment, economic and environmental cooperation, water & food security, energy efficiency and green economy.

Hon. Nicolette Odella is a member of parliament and former Minister of Education for the Cooperative Republic of Guyana. Dr. Henry has a long and distinguished public service career. While serving as Minister of Education she led several paradigm shifting initiatives to transform Guyana’s Education Sector including: improving the performance of education sector across the nursey, primary and secondary continuum, reintegration of teenage mothers, curriculum reform and strengthening psychosocial support and school health for learners. Dr. Henry is passionate about human and social development issues and has led, advocated and promoted regional collaboration and approaches in addressing many of the social issues that affects the Caribbean region.

Ramiro Cavazos is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Previously, he served as the President & CEO of the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for 10 years. He has a strong expertise in economic development, having served as the Director of Economic Development for the City of San Antonio, Director of Research and Economic Development for the University of Texas Health Science Center, and as the Global Public Affairs Manager for the Levi Strauss Company and Foundation for the Texas, Mexico, and Latin America Region. Ramiro has a Masters of Public Administration from St. Mary’s University and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Government from The University of Texas at Austin. A native of Weslaco in the Rio Grande Valley, he is a 7th generation Texan. Ramiro and his wife Christa are parents of two boys, 14 and 11 years-old.

Eng. Mohammed is a Tech savvy IT Engineer, with a big passion to make the earth a better place to live.

After more than 16 years of experience in cutting edge technologies like AI, and Intelligent Networks, as part of his social responsibility he is always dedicating most of his time to bring the best technology practices and solutions to the region.

Eng. AlKaff began his career as an Intelligence Network Engineer, his portfolio included being theManaging Partner of Netaq for E-Solutions, Co-Founder of Wershaty, Technology and businessconsultant with Great Mindz, Co-Founder of UI Ventures and SasTech Green Energy UAE. Currently serves as the BMI Technology Group CEO, and MCPM MENA CO-Founder.
