The World Green Growth Organization took on this project to seek investors to finalize this project. Initially, the project includes the intention to build a plant sugarcane in the department of Quindio, with the possibility of producing sugar, the construction of a decanter of the production of fuel ethanol.
Colombia, without affecting their food security, has immense potential to develop biofuel projects, is seen in this alternative, a national source of progress around employment generation and improvement of the environment.
With the enactment of law 693, more democratic security, it begins the largest agro-industrial project in the history of Colombia. Fuel Alcohol Project-Done in Quindio, has been structured since 1995, today is framed in the development, distributing its catchment area of 6500 hectares, which include municipalities, at sites between 1000 and 1200 meters above sea level, considered as marginal areas of coffee cultivation, with slopes no greater than 7% exploiting the outstanding advantages and competitive in the region for the cultivation of sugarcane, such as the fertile soils volcanic origin, thee 5.5 hours of light per day, rainfall of 1800 millimeters, thee latter allowing the definition of the watering need not, thereby providing a cost of agricultural production, with 30% less than in other regions of the country, including the short distances for the transportation of cane, security department, with an increase of 15 and 8 points in the industrial and agricultural sectors.
